What’s New in Bangkok: 20 Bars, Clubs, and Restaurants That Recently Opened This April-June 2018
Half a year had already gone by since the lively New Years celebrations in Bangkok. Many things had happened over the past 6 months, including the openings of brand-new hangout spots around town. We’ve recently updated you on the 20 new restaurants, bars, and clubs that opened its doors at the beginning of the year (January - March). Since then, we continued to search for more businesses that had officially opened in the 2nd quarter of 2018 so you and your friends can switch things up on the next hangout session.
Here’s a list of 20 new restaurants, bars, and clubs that recently opened during April-June 2018 that you should be checking out right now.
The Bar Upstairs
If you’re looking for a nice cozy spot for a romantic dinner date, look no further. The Bar Upstairs has over 150 different types of wines from around the globe within its walls. You can either take the bottles back to enjoy at home, or pair them up with the comfort food menus, such as cheese, cold cuts, salads, and pasta, straight from Brasserie Cordonnier’s kitchen and have a wonderful night out. This wine bar was made with the concept of an abandoned garden home in southern France in mind. That’s why the interior is decorated with wooden furniture and covered from head to toe with the green color of climbers and wall shrubs, giving off a raw and rustic vibe. The cocktail menu, inspired by all greenery of the gardens, allows you to also pick your own ingredients to create your own unique concoction.
The Photobooth
If you want to find your way inside this secret speakeasy bar, you have to first locate a photobooth. We'll give you a hint; it's located inside a huge sports bar called Score Bar. After you're done with your photo session in the booth, you'll find a gimmicky darkroom filled with black and white photography and film washing equipment. After a short walk through the hallway, you'll find the bar entrance. The cool-looking, dark brown interior is mostly dressed in leather furniture and velvet. As it is a full-service cocktail bar, you'll be sure to find classic cocktails as well as unique creative cocktails on the menu.
Hooters Silom
The global sports bar and American fast food brand had recently opened its 3rd location in Bangkok (6th in Thailand). Hooters is well-known for its “Hooter Girls”, a team of beautiful and friendly service staffs dressed in the iconic uniform of orange Hooters t-shirts and white shorts. The food menu mostly consists of snacks such as Chicken Wings, Nachos, Calamari, Sandwiches, and French Fries, while the drinks menu encompasses everything from champagnes to beers all the way to non-alcoholic beverages. If you’re a fan of live sports and looking for a nice place to watch your matches live, you can add Hooters to your shortlist since they’ve got over 10 TV screens set up specifically for the sports fans to enjoy.
The Club @ Koi
The Club @ Koi takes the space that was once occupied by CÉ LA VI Bangkok with the intention to become the “highest” nightlife hot-spot of Bangkok. Ran by the same management team as the Californian-Japanese restaurant Koi, The Club at Koi brings an international flare to the clubbing scene high above the clouds. Other than the more sophisticated and luxurious interior design and decorations, the clear glass windows make the best us of the beautiful Bangkok skyline at night. The high ceilings adorned with state-of-the-art lighting that bounces off the hanging chandeliers also make the venue a go-to destination for some of the best local and international DJs playing Hip Hop on weekdays and a blend of Future House, House, and Electronic on the weekends.
Where is my beer?
Where Is My Beer? completely transformed a two-story house into a cozy white-brown house bar that perfectly combines the rustic interior design with the laid back country-side vibe. Much like going to a friend’s house somewhere up north in Chiang Rai, this is the place to be if you feel like taking time off from the hectic work life. Being the first “Beer Cocktail Bar” in Bangkok, you’ll find all sorts of “Beertails” made using the bar’s very own craft beers as the base. There’re also countless local and international craft beers to choose from. The kitchen also offers Thai-German fusion menus such as German sausage, chicken wings marinated in beer and mustard, and spicy tuna Gyoza that perfectly pairs with any of your beer selection. Scruffy Murphy
As one of the latest Irish bars in town, Scruffy Murphy will give you the authentic Irish experience within the dark-colored walls and the wooden furniture and bar. The diverse beer selections on tap and food items such as chicken wings and pies are all that you need for a good night out. If you and your friends happen to be sports fans, this Irish bar is definitely the place to be as they’ve got multiple TV screens scattered all around the venue. Whether if its soccer, rugby, basketball, or baseball that you’re cheering for, you’ll never miss a single match whenever you drop by for a drink or two.
Witch Craft by Bad Burger
Bad Burger recently opened its very own craft beer bar right next door for the fans to enjoy quality beers with their premium burgers. Maintaining the same sociable atmosphere with bare cement walls and wooden furniture, Witch Craft presented a wide selection of affordable craft beers, both on tap and bottled, that rotates now and then. You’ll also find interesting promotions such as Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Wednesdays or the “999 THB 2-Hours Free Flow” now and then. So if you’re looking for a new hangout spot, why not go for the classic burgers and beers at this location?
Score Bar
Score Bar is the latest sports bar on the roster of lively nightlife venues in Soi Sukhumvit 11. Inside, you’ll find all kinds of games to play with your friends such as Foosball, Darts, Pool, and Beer Pong. You can also enjoy all the live sports matches on the TV screens set up all around the inside of the bar. The food menu offers classic bar bites like nachos, chicken wings, mini burgers, while the drinks menu comes with all sorts of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Kangkao
The secret cocktail bar "Ku Bar", one of Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2018, recently opened a small wine bar called Kangkao (means "Bat" in Thai) on the 2nd floor of the establishment. Aside from the minimalistic design and decoration, you'll be impressed with the long bar facing out the glass window overlooking the nightly charm of Bangkok's Old Town. You'll find all sorts of wine here, whether it'd be organic or natural, and the list changes from time to time. Be sure to grab some nice bar bites to pair with your glass of wine like the Grilled Pork Ears (240 THB).
The Steakhouse Co.
The Steakhouse Co. is your classic steakhouse with a modern twist. The old-looking English-style red brick walls and dark-color toned wood elements are complemented by modern furniture. Whether you’re a fan of roasted chicken, pork chops, grilled seafood, or a juicy cut of steak, you can be assured that this restaurant has got the best chefs doing it for you. For the steaks, you can select from the best parts like Tenderloin, Rib-eye, T-bone, and Fillet that are all imported from Australia, Japan, and the United States. Urbani Truffle Bar & Restaurant

This rooftop bar in Sathorn differentiates itself from others by introducing the people of Soi Yen Akat to a Californian-style cocktail bar. Both the indoors and outdoors presents a warm and natural atmosphere with modern decors, dark-colored floors, wooden furniture, and a variety of cactus that surround the area. Cactus Bangkok specializes in creative cocktails, but also provides a number of beverage options for everyone to enjoy. Yào Restaurant & Rooftop Bar
This restaurant and bar atop the 32nd floor of the Bangkok Marriott The Surawongse is where you can experience authentic Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisine. With a team of well-trained chefs from China, you'll enjoy both traditional favorites and innovative new recipes such as the flower-shaped bean curd mushroom soup, steamed pork dumpling in oolong tea soup. The two-level outdoor bar offers signature cocktails, light bites, and stunning panoramic views of Bangkok city and the Chao Praya river.
Kanom Chan Thai Desserts Bar
This rooftop venue isn't your usual late-night speakeasy bar, but rather a cozy spot to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine during the day. Other than traditional Thai sweets such as Kanom Krok, Thong Muan, and Krong Krang, this place also serves popular Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Fried Sun-dried Meats, and Spicy Salad with Fermented Pork and Rice Croquettes made only with fresh ingredients and no MSG. Spanning over 2,000 square meters, the two floors of Octo Seafood Bar has got all the best restaurants and bars in town all in one place, namely Happy Fish, Cutts, Hidden Bar, and Gourmet on the first floor. The second floor makes room from an attractive cocktail bar called Dr. Fitch and its iconic blue-green giant octopus sculpture. There's also a Live Seafood zone where you can "catch" your dinner while it's still alive and a long bar that serves up all kinds of beverages. Ryn Speakeasy Bar
Don't be fooled by its cute and lovely decors during the day, because when the pink neon lights switch on when the sun sets, you've got yourself speakeasy bar to enjoy. Ryn Speakeasy Bar is another place with a different look on how bars should be. Contrary to the usual sight of drinks on the rocks, you'll be served spirits in the form of ice cream scoops paired with its liquor counter-part instead. Don't be fooled, however, as these sweet-looking treats can catch you off-guard with the level of alcohol content within them. Alexander’s German Eatery
This German restaurant is all about making you feel the most at home. You can choose to take it easy outside at the Bavarian Beer Garden among the fairy lights, enjoy a selection of cold cuts and cheese at the Knight's Bar, get all contemporary with a hint of rustic at the Prussian Corner, or be seated on upscale dinner tables at the Fireplace Room. One of the most well-known clubs in the Ekkamai-Thonglor area has now transformed to a full-on nightclub called Beans. Whether you're a fan of Hip Hop or EDM, you'll have a chance to enjoy both styles of music from some of the best DJs in town all night long every day. Given its top-of-the-line light and sound system and design, you can be sure to have a good night out everytime you drop by. Rewind Bar
If you're a 90's kid or just simply in love with the charm of that era, then you'll definitely love the brand-new bar in Thonglor. Rewind Bar will take you back to the golden years of cassette tapes, pagers, and Game Boys on a nightly basis. The playlist will take you on a throwback journey through all those Thai and international songs everybody can sing along to. The interior features red brick walls, wooden furniture, and leather goods that give off a retro vibe and the food and drinks menu offer a variety of beers, wines, and classic cocktails. The highlight that you definitely can’t miss is the creative cocktails named after buttons on a remote control such as Fast Forward, Play, and Pause as a playful gimmick for all of us to enjoy.
Fake Illusion
Fake Illusion is the type of hangout spot that’s designed for party people of all kinds, that’s why they’ve got up to three zones for you and your friends to choose from.
