8 Reasons You Need to Check Out 808 Festival 2019
World-class lineup, ultimate entertainment, and a chance to join one of the best EDM festivals in Thailand!
808 Festival, one of Thailand’s biggest and most anticipated EDM events, returns for the seventh year with its 2019 installment.
808 Festival 2019 will be bigger than ever – it promises to be the ultimate music festival experience.
We’re here to tell you eight reasons why EDM lovers should get hyped about this event, and each one is sure to make you want to grab your tickets ASAP!
1. Phenomenal Headliners
This is no doubt the main reason fans are looking forward to 808 Festival 2019. Just the headliners alone should be enough to make you scream out in excitement.
First on the list is Scottish heartthrob, Calvin Harris, best known for hits like “Summer”, “This Is What You Came For”, and “We Found Love”. After much anticipation on his Thai fans’ part, the DJ is finally making a Bangkok debut at 808 Festival 2019. So if you’ve always wanted to see him live, this is the perfect chance.
Skrillex, an American DJ recognized for his immense talent, has entertained countless fans with his energetic dubstep beats. Thai followers should be familiar with his performance, as the DJ has joined many of Thailand’s festivals.
This time, he’s sure to bring the kind of mind-blowing show we know and crave, with additional mesmerizing effects and top-tiered production.
Last but not least is Zedd, whose top tracks include “Clarity”, “I Want You to Know”, “Stay”, and “The Middle”. In his return to Bangkok, Thai fans should expect some of his new singles to be featured at the live set.
Did You Know?: the three headliners of 808 Festival 2019 have earned Grammy awards of their own. Calvin Harris won Best Music Video in 2013 for “We Found Love”, where he worked with Rihanna.
Skrillex is also killing it by taking home a total of eight Grammy awards – three in 2012, three in 2013, and two in 2016 – for Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album, Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, and more.
As for Zedd, the DJ won Best Dance Recording with “Clarity” in 2014.
2. Stellar Support Lineup
Though the headliners are the main focus for EDM fans on the entertainment front, the rest of the lineup is just as impressive. To kick off this list, we’ve got Blasterjaxx, a veteran DJ with over a decade of experience.
Also joining are Dyro, an incredibly talented Dutch DJ, and Generik, a house DJ with a rough-and-rugged style.
17-year-old Perto might just surprise you with his talent, which far exceeds his age.
Softest Hard is the only female DJ at the event; we’re sure that boys are looking forward to her performance. Next, the Dutch duo, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, make a much-welcome return to Bangkok.
Finally, there’s Yung Bae, an American DJ/producer who’s got a highly recognizable future funk style.
As if the lineup's starpower wasn't enough yet, 808 Festival has unveiled it's Phase 3 lineup, featuring special guest KSHMR - who recently climbed up to the #15 spot of the DJ Mag Top 100 list - alongside Keanu Silva, Ofenbach, Snakehips, and Toby Green.
3. Three-day Festival
In terms of scale, you can expect an even bigger bash this year. For the first time ever, 808 Festival will be extended to a three-day event, taking place between December 6-8, 2019.
All three are packed to the brim with a world-class lineup, so don’t worry; you’ll get a chance of seeing all your faves in action. The organizing team is bringing the best to fans of each act.
All you need to focus on is getting ready for the main event. Prepare to dance non-stop throughout all shows.
Tips & Tricks: 808 Festival sits perfectly between two public holidays. Taking two days off will give you a six-day break. That’s plenty of time to warm up for the festival and to get some rest after the all-out, three-day party. Those last two days can make a difference between an exhausting or a refreshing return to work.
4. The Best Ticket Value
As the festival spans three days, the pass includes access to all shows on all days to keep things simple. When you think of the price as a per-day rate, we think you’ll agree that the deal is pretty sweet.
Plus, being able to see all performances on all three days means you won’t have to choose between any of your favorite acts; you really can catch them all.
Tips & Tricks: a bit strapped for cash? Installments are available for the ticket payment. So even if your payday isn’t here yet or you’ve got other things to take care of, you can still join the fun. The organizing team wants all EDM fans to experience the ultimate festival that they’ve been clamoring for.
5. Connected Venue
Previous 808 Festival installments were held in different locations and venues, both in and outside Bangkok. This year, however, the event returns to the more familiar territory of Bitec Bangna. The convention center is as convenient as it gets for concert venues.
Bitec Bangna is super spacious and, more importantly, easy to get to thanks to the connecting skywalk from BTS Bangna station. No need to take extra rides on the bus or get stuck in the traffic.
However, if you’re planning to bring your own car, the venue offers plenty of parking space. So you won’t be driving around all day looking for empty spots in the parking lot. It’s great to be able to get there fast without planning a ton in advance; you can focus more on having fun at the festival!
6. State-of-the-art Production
Music festivals would be bland and lackluster without a grand production, which is often just as amazing as the artists and their performances.
As the high-energy music blasts from the stage, the surrounding area is usually lit up with all kinds of lights, sounds, and effects. Of course, as this is 808 Festival 2019, you can expect to be blown away by the sheer scale of everything.
Whether it’s the stage design, stunning visuals, or blazes of fireworks, these elements help set the mood and get the crowd pumped up. With the festival’s jaw-dropping production, we have no doubt we’ll be having twice as much fun on the date.
7. The Cool Crowd
808 Festival has a long-established reputation on a global level, which means it’s one of the top destinations for international EDM lovers. Naturally, this means that you’ll find an international crowd at the event.
With party lovers from the US, Europe, China, Japan, Korean, Taiwan, and Singapore, you’ll feel like you’re joining a music festival overseas. And judging from what we’ve seen, the 808 Festival crowd is such an eye candy.
Whatever flavors of dreamboats you’re into, you’ll love being in the mix. Other than enjoying the shows, some single festival-goers might also be changing their FB status to ‘In a Relationship’ after the event concluded.
Thai revelers are also turning up the heat themselves. We should know; we’ve posted pictures of all kinds of hotties from the previous events. 808 Festival is probably one of the best places to find a date with a shared taste in music.
8. Experienced Promoter
As we’ve mentioned, 808 Festival has been entertaining EDM lovers for seven years and you can trust that their team will bring exciting features to life in all their glory. The experience this team brings means you’ll see the best lineup, music, and production – all wrapped into a perfect package of entertainment.
