Sweet Tooth: Thai Desserts You Need to Try at Least Once
When talking about Thai cuisine, you must leave space for the desserts. It’s not your everyday light Western style dessert, but rather characterized by syrups, coconut cream, local fruits, and sticky rice. You can say that it’s rather sweet and definitely filling.
Khanom Buang
Dubbed the “Thai Crepe”, this beautiful little finger food is best when fresh off the grill. They are usually filled with meringue and topped with shredded egg yolk, but some places have other variations as well.

Khanom Krok
Creamy, rich, and even smoky, these little bite-sized snacks can be mostly found at morning street vendors. They are made crispy in a charcoal-heated pan with craters and often with green onions, sweet corn, and taro. Delish!

Tong Yip & Tong Yord
Basically egg yolk, sugar, and flour cooked in flower syrup. Sounds sweet, doesn't it? That’s because it is, very. Tong Yip is made to look like a flower, while Tong Yord is made to look like drops. Better count your calories if you get a hold of this. Just saying.

Loog Choob
These little colorful mini Thai fruits and vegetables are actually sweet mung bean paste glazed with gelatin. They look great and they taste wonderful. It's no surprise that these were made only for royalty back in the days.

Tup Tim Grob
Made to imitate pomegranate seeds, these bright red cubes are water chestnuts coated with gelatin and food coloring. Often served cold in coconut milk and jackfruit, they are perfect to smoothen your palate after dinner.

Mango & Sticky Rice
This is the one that comes to mind of many when talking about Thai desserts. Sweet sticky rice doused in creamy coconut milk, served with slices of golden mango that melts in your mouth. Best enjoyed in mango season during April – July!

Coconut Ice Cream
Fight Thailand’s unforgiving heat with the perfect treat. These creamy coconut ice creams come in all shapes and sizes. Some are served in coconut shells with some slices of the coconut meat, some are on bread buns with sticky rice, and toppings like peanuts, sticky rice, and jellies are a must.
