You are only 21 years old, but already one of Australia's most renowned DJs and the figurehead of the Melbourne Bounce sound. You were voted ‘Breakthrough Artist Of The Year’ - and a year later #1 DJ - at the inthemix australia awards and you were named by Billboard Magazine as one of the most exciting young talents. How do you manage to keep your feet on the ground?
It’s easy, I’ve always just stayed true and myself. I literally haven’t changed since the start. All these things happen but i’ve kept my head together. Eat healthy & work out.
How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place?
Basically through friends and the early stages of parties.
You play and produce Electro House, Techno & Minimal. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?
Happy yet dark!
You track “Bring It Back” – released in 2013 in collaboration with Joel Fletcher – reached Platinum status in Australia and you had several tracks in Beatport's Top 10 charts already. What tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
I’d say listen to ‘Bourne'. It has the Melbourne heavy vibe, but also with the happy elements.
In the beginning of this year you were touring in Australia, Asia and America and this October & November you completed an America & Europe tour with Joel Fletcher. You have played major clubs such as Pacha NYC & XS Las Vegas and festivals such as Coloursfest (UK) & Stereosonic (Australia). What’s next on your agenda for 2015 and what are you currently and focusing working on?
Basically to conquer main stages throughout the world. I’m not really fussed, i live in the moment. Just passionate and always doing what makes me happy.
You are one of the most renowned upcoming DJs associated with the “Melbourne Bounce” sound. For those that don’t know it yet, how would you describe it and which of your tracks would you use as an example for it?
The name says it really.. Its bouncy and boppy. All you want to do is dance. Listen to ‘Ah Yeah’ as an example. It was the first bounce track to really break through to the big stages.
What was the best and the worst gig you ever played and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?
Theres a few best. Paradiso, Colours Fest Scotland & the whole Stereosonic tour 2014 just to name a few.
On 8th January you will make your Bangkok Debut at ONYX RCA Have you visited Thailand before? What can Bangkok expect of your upcoming performance?
This is the first time i’ve ever been to Thailand!! I’m so excited. After seeing ‘The Hangover', it scares me a little, Probably not going to drink on the night of the show haha.
