In October 2013 you released the Wide Close up EP, with 4 original tracks and one remix – released on your record label “Serialism”. What can you tell us about the EP?
Yes, wide close up is my latest work in 2013 on my record label Serialism..it's a mix of New Deep House and Techno with a touch of funk and psychedelic. One tune is a great collaboration with my partner and Cadenza co-founder Quenum and the remix is by Perlon's prodigy Maayan Nidam. The EP received very good critics by the worldwide press and was played by some of the biggest DJs and radios..i was definitely happy to collaborate with such talented colleagues for this project.
What are you currently working and focusing on and what’s on your agenda for the near future? Is there a release of an artist album foreseeable?
At the moment I'm working a lot with my main partner Quenum on our new alias together Azimute. It's a very solid project so we are putting a lot of energies on that. But in the meanwhile I will release a record with my friend Dave Vega on BPitch Control in March and one before the summer on my label Serialism. And I have a lot more collaborations with Eric Volta, Konrad Black, Jonny Cruz, Sierra Sam (together as Strangers in Heaven).. I am busy..also touring..my 2014 seems like is going to be very intense!
You were born in Italy, lived for many years in London – where you were recognized as one of the driving forces behind the deep minimal techno scene – and now reside in Germany’s capital Berlin. What made you leave Italy for London, and what made you move from London to Berlin? Which of the countries had/has the highest influence on your music?
I was living in Italy all my life (with some in and out from Poland, where my mum is from). I moved in London in the first place to follow my musical path..I had graduated at SAE as Sound Engineer at the time (talking about 2001) and thought to expand my musical knowledge and life experience. London has been a main influence for years even if since long time I was intrigued by the German sound and the city of Berlin. After 9 years in the UK capital i decided to move to Berlin 4 years ago. This summer i will move to ibiza and in the winter to South America, Sao Paulo actually It's good for an artist to experience different parts of the world, get inspired but the different life styles, by people, by the sound and the colors.
What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife in Berlin? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?
Nightlife in Berlin is unique. There's a history here. I play all over the world but Berlin is special. Of course i would suggest visiting Watergate club, where i actually hold a residency with my label Serialism, Panorama Bar/Berghain of course, i would have told you to visit Kater Holzig that was a fantastic experience not only as a club, but now is closed since january. But there are many more..Hoppetosse/Arena, Club Der Visionaere.. all hosting great night every week, every day of the week with some of the best DJs, top and new talents.
What was the best and the worst gig you ever played so far and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?
Don't remember about a soooo bad one to talk about, for sure there were many funny ones or not so good, but best ones so far are many, i love different vibes and ways to have a party so i had a lot of wonderful experiences around the world in many cities and with different working groups and public.
On 28th February you will perform live here in Bangkok at Glow Nightclub alongside the With Love crew. Have you visited Thailand before? Will it be your Bangkok debut? What can Bangkok expect of your upcoming performance?
Yes, I've visited Thailand before but never played in Bangkok. I'm excited, let's see what this city has to offer vibe-wise! And from me I wouldn't expect anything in particular, I'm very flexible and morph my set accordingly to my music box of course, but always following my feelings in the moment.
