Heart of the Panther By Retrospect: A Concert For The Slain Black Panther
"Rock never dies, but when a black panther dies, who's responsible?" Words from Retrospect, a Thai Heavy Metal band, that greatly resonated with the feelings of everyone who have been following the news of the black panther hunting. Since the beginning of February, social media channels had been flooded with the news of an arrest that involved allegedly hunting protected animals in Thung Yai Naresuan wildlife sanctuary in Thong Pha Phum district of Kanchanaburi province. This sparked fury among the people and many spoken up about the controversy, including the creation of the Facebook group #4หมื่นคนคอนเสิร์ตเพื่อเสือดำ (meaning a 40,000 People Concert For the Black Panther) that have garnered over 36,000 likes up until today.
The group was the major driving force that made the concert Retrospect: Heart of the Panther a reality. All the profits from this event will be donated to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation to support their mission of protecting, conserving, and restoring all wildlife and plant-life within national parks and sanctuaries across the country.
