Micrashell - A Suit That Allows You to Socialize Safely
Production Club, an LA-based company, is exploring ways how safe partying could look light during this hard time.
The Covid-19 virus has hit the nightlife and clubbing industry pretty hard, which resulted in considerable losses to almost everyone that depended on nightlife to earn a living.
Although hitting bars and partying has been part of humanity since time immemorial, clubbing remains a vital part of the modern-day culture: virtually irreplaceable. So how could safe partying look light during this time?
Are the masks offering enough protection against Covid-19 with all the touching, shoving, hugging, shouting associated with clubbing?
An LA-based company, Production Club, has designed a suit called Micrashell that allows partygoers to safely, dance, smoke, drink, and even get intimate. Yes, you read that, right!
According to Production Club, the Micrashell suit features a face shield that is airtight and connected to a sophisticated filtration system.
The Micrashell suit comes with clubbing specific add-ons, including microphones, high-tech speakers, and other elements that enable the users to drink or smoke without exposing themselves or others.
Drinks can be loaded into the Micrashell suit using the snap system that uses plug-in cell and magnets that fit the shape of the canisters.
Also, the suit features side buttons that activate a nozzle when you want a drink. Further, the suit has embedded lights that display how much of your drink is remaining.
The whole suit's face shield is clear, providing obscured communication and better visibility. The Micrashell suit is designed to be worn on the top half only, allowing free movement for accessing restroom, dancing, and getting intimate.
Further, a mixture of LED lights and screens allows users to note one another’s mood, desires, and needs and communicate with each other.
The suit has an option for clubbers to link their phones to a camera system to allow them to operate the phone normally, as well as a “chest eye” system to enable them to view in real-time what the face-shield might not be able to.
The concept behind the virus-shielded Micrashell suit is indeed a very ambitious one. Even though it is yet to be tested in different environments, it may encounter some challenges.
For instance, how much would it cost? How much would it cost to maintain it? If it turns out to be too expensive, this would mean partying would be a rich man’s thing.
Also, what happens when someone has had one too many and wants fresh air? The helmet did not account for eating: one must take off the shield.
Nonetheless, Micrashell may just be a way to help revive the global nightlife industry.
