Exclusive Interview with DJ Mari Ferrari

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with DJ Mari Ferrari, shortly before her performance at Levels on 17th April.

You are a up-and-coming female DJ and Producer from Russia. How did you get in touch with DJing in the first place?

All my life I was in love with music. So, one day I just found how to express myself with it. I start from Dj school in Moscow and very shortly I begin my DJ career.

Your sound is a mix of Progressive House and Electro House. How would you describe your own sound in just a few words, what is distinct about it?

Well, my own productions are totally mainstream style. And my life sets I can describe as mashup from progressive to vocal and electro house. I always trying to create something new and fresh.

Are there any tracks, remixes, mix-sets or videos would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your sound?

Yes, this month will be released my latest track and video clip called "Hello Hello", and two more tracks and videos are coming this summer. So, pretty much to see!

What are you currently working and focusing on and what’s on your agenda for the near future?

As I said before, I work hard on productions at this moment, I'm focusing on my own sound. Hopefully on the nearest future, you will hear my music on the radios around the globe!

How is it to be an attractive female in this mainly male dominated business?

It is good question. To be honest, it is very hard. But who says that it will be easy. Don’t care about, just make your music. That what I want now - anyway, music will win.

You have performed all over world, in over 50 countries. What were the best and the worst gigs you ever played and what were the funniest things that occurred during any of your performances?

I have one story that will describe three of this thing. Its story about the best place I worked, on the worst and at the same time funniest conditions! It happened with me in Las Vegas, when I arrived there to perform at TAO club, and I just found that my baggage got lost somewhere in Paris! So what I did after was the most crazy and funny thing I ever had!

I was wearing simple jeans when I arrived and on the way to TAO, I asked my friend (a girl) - Could you give me your shoes? She had great leopard/cowboy-style DG shoes! She gave them to me and then I asked one of the DJs at the club - Could you, please, give me your DJ CD bag and your headphones, just for 1/5 h?? (lol) So I went to TAO, with music I never heard before, on leopard/cowboy shoes, and I played my set like It was my last party ever!

So, nobody noticed that I've got a "little problem". I really enjoyed this night, and people danced like crazy! I swear it was the best crazy night ever!

You are from Moscow - the capital and the largest city of Russia with over 12 million residents within the city limits. What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife there? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?

I left Moscow some years ago! I lived in Germany, and now I have a house in Portugal. I love Moscow, it's my home country, but at this moment, I prefer more calm places, like Portugal, where I can go to the beach at any time I wish. Between my tours it's the best place to chill and recover!

On 17th April you will perform live in Bangkok at Levels. Did you keep previous Bangkok performances – and Thailand in general – in good memory? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?

It's my second time at the Levels club. My first time was really amazing! I think we all enjoyed it a lot! That's why I'm here again! And I loved to be here since my first night! I can't wait for the party and I'm sure it's gonna be awesome! And of course, I bring some new hot stuff for you! So - get ready to party hard!
