Exclusive Interview with Katty Q

Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Katty Q, shortly before her performance at Insanity Nightclub on 12th February.

Where are you answering these questions?

From a nice sea-side restaurant in Goa, India where I perform this Saturday night (6th Feb).

You are an Open Format DJ, a Producer & Remixer and a FHM & Maxim Model from Russia. How did you get in touch with DJing in the first place?

I had the first night out experience when I was 16. That was a club in my hometown- Novosibirsk. That time for the very first time I understood I will be in touch with clubs for long because I really loved it. Music, light, the energy on the dance floor, vibes and beats... Everything! So it remained in my mind and by 2009 - when I was ready to go on - it all started.

Your sound is a mix of Pop, Electro House, R&B and Big Room House. How would you describe your own sound in a few words?

Magic Making Moments & bringing people together with a smile on their faces while on the dance floor ! ;-)

Are there any tracks, remixes, mix-sets or videos would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your sound?

What are you currently working and focusing on and what’s on your agenda for the near future?

I have a lot releases and collaborations scheduled for the 1st half of 2016, of course many tours upcoming and never ever standing still.

How is it to be an attractive female in this mainly male dominated business?

I always liked to compete with guys - even in sport hobbies - since school. And now in our DJ game - kinda the same. Always need to prove your professional skills. But you know, they say - only by playing against strong opponents you become stronger.

You have performed all over Europe and Asia, worked for renowned brands such as Swarovski jewelry, Russian Standard vodka, FHM & Hennessy Artistry and you are the official DJ of the “Miss Russia” pageant. What werethe best and the worst gigs you ever played and what were the funniest things that occurred during any of your performances?

All have been either great or an experience, no bad gig so far.

You live in Moscow - the capital and the largest city of Russia with over 12 million residents within the city limits. What can you tell us about clubbing and nightlife there? Do you have any nightlife related suggestions for first-time visitors?

I'd say Moscow's night life a bit less exiting then it used to be a couple years ago, because of the economic situation.

There are less guest DJs or performance artists. But there are definitely some great places to go! Come To Moscow and check it out, I'd love to show you around!

On 12th February you will perform live in Bangkok at Insanity Nightclub. Did you keep previous Thailand performances – and Thailand in general – in good memory? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?

Honestly, I love Thailand! i went there 1st when i was 16, for my first model contract. over 4 month . Bangkok treated me so well and I always wanted to come back. Now as a professional DJ it is my 2nd time to visit TH and I am very excited for it again. Looking forward to my gig at Insanity Club. Amazing memories from last time there.
