Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with TJR, shortly before his performance at Onyx RCA on 16th July.
You have left a professional golfer career behind you to become a DJ. In 2012 you were signed exclusively to Rising Music by Chris Lake himself. What made you turn down your golfer career, how did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place and how did you get into DJing and music production?
I turned down a golf career because I didn't find much interest in the golf business after I discovered DJing. This all happened during my 4 years at college. I got into production much later on, about 10 years after I was DJing. I don't know why, I just got the bug later in life.
You are best known for your multi-Platinum certified collaboration with Pitbull “Don’t Stop The Party” and your #1 Beatport chart tracks "Funky Vodka", "What's Up Suckaz", "Ode to Oi". How would you describe your own music in just a few words and what other tracks, remixes or mix-sets would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
My music is fun and bouncy. It won't make you cry but it will will make your butt move. Go listen to my live mix from Dec 2014 when I opened for Dillon Francis.
What are you currently working and focusing on? What’s on your agenda for the near future?
My agenda is usually the same. Try to find time for myself and make great records.
What were the best and the worst gigs you ever played and what were the funniest things ever occurred during any of your performances?
I've had my fare share of great and bad gigs so its all kind of a blur to be honest. Funniest thing ever happen? Probably when my friend was DJing and he decided to piss inside the dj booth.
On 16th July you will make your Thailand Debut at Onyx RCA. Have you visited Thailand before? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?
I've never visited Thailand so I'm excited to explore. Expect a lot of energy and bouncing!
