Where are you answering these questions?
I'm in the Gold Coast! On the way to the airport, I'm playing the goodlife u18 club tour ATM before I head over and begin my Asian tour.
You are one of the most renowned figures of the up-and-coming Melbourne Bounce sound and ranked #24 at the inthemix Top 50 of 2015 in Australia. You have mixed Ministry of Sound’s flagship compilation "The Annual 2014" and remixed for Example, Deorro, Fatboy Slim & Riva Starr, TJR & VINAI and New World Sound. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place, and how did you get into DJing and music production?
It's a funny story, it was about 6 years ago, as a kid in my teens I was really into cars, I used to go out hooning and being a little rebel almost every night, it was my hobby, all my time went into cars. But one night I had a life changing experience I was racing through the Adelaide hills and lost control on a corner and slid out landing literally in between two gum trees and on the edge of a cliff face where I surely would have fallen to my death. At that moment I said to myself "you need a new hobby" and from that point I got my car towed home, got a copy of Ableton and the rest is history as they say.
You play and produce Electro House & Melbourne Bounce. How would you describe your own music in just a few words?
Energy, together, memories
You run the #1 music podcast on iTunes Australia - with a monthly audience of 150,000 people – and you have released tracks on prestigious record labels such as Steve Aoki's Dim Mak, Spinnin' Records, Ministry of Sound and Laidback Luke's Mixmash. You’re best known for your remix of “Bounce Generation” (by TJR & VINAI) and your collaborative tracks “Go” (with Laidback Luke), “Jetfuel” (with Joel Fletcher) and “BLTR” (with Reece Low). What other tracks, remixes or mix-sets would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
Definitely check out my latest ubercast! And my Soundcloud it's all on there! But I'll have a few surprises and un released things I only play in my dj sets! Other than that all I can say is be prepared!
You are on the lineup of Belgium’s prestigious Tomorrowland festival. What else is on your agenda for the near future, and what are you currently working and focusing on?
Lots of new music I just finished a remix for tonite only, and one for savage, as well as that some collabs, one with Reid stefan, another with Jaysounds and a couple new original solo tracks.
What were the best and the worst gigs you ever played and what were the funniest things ever occurred during any of your performances?
Haha actually most random thing just lasts week for the final show of my tour of Australia with savage and Jaysounds at the met in Brisbane, this dude from the crowd gave me a jar of mocconna coffee, def most random thing that has happened at a gig recently!
On 2nd July you will make your Thailand Debut at Onyx RCA, alongside Krunk. Have you visited Thailand before? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?
Expect some of the favourites as well as some new stuff! I'm looking forward to coming over! Heard it was crazy by my roommate j-trick who was just over recently! Look forward to seeing you all over there!!
