Exclusive Interview with Vicetone
MAYA MUSIC FESTIVAL will feature international DJs of several dance music genres. The lineup features amongst many others artists the Electro- & Progressive House duo VICETONE (the #36 of DJ MAG's Top 100 DJs) from the Netherlands. The event is under the concept of ELECTRO-NAGA - a world-class electronic dance music festival combined with Thai Arts.
Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Vicetone, shortly before their performance at MAYA Music Festival on 7th March.
You are childhood friends from the Netherlands that started making music together in 2012. In 2013 you entered the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list on rank #60, a year later you jumped forward to #36. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place and how did you get into DJing and music production?
We grew up with dance music - ever since we were 10 years old we listened to dance music on the radio and owned albums. We always loved the energy growing up and our love for it has never gone away.
You play and produce melodic Big Room, Electro- & Progressive House. How would you describe your own music in a few words?
Melodic, energetic and occasionally serene!
Your collaborative track “Let Me Feel” (with Nicky Romero) was a huge worldwide success and reached the #1 position in the Beatport Top 100 charts. What other tracks would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
Our Matthew Koma - One Night remix, and our new track Follow Me feat. JHart, which is the official Ultra Music Festival 2015 anthem.
What are you currently working and focusing on and what’s on your agenda for the near future?
We've just finished building our new studios that we've been planning for several months, and now it's finally time to start producing all these new tracks that we've had lying around for a while. We have loads of new records coming up this year and we cannot wait to release them!
On 7th March you will make your Thailand Debut as headliner of MAYA Music Festival, alongside Steve Angello and Markus Schulz. Have you ever visited Thailand before? What can the Bangkok crowd expect of your upcoming performance?
We've never been in Thailand before, but we've heard so many great things about Thailand and Bangkok, we cannot wait to perform there for the first time. We're gonna play a lot of special new edits and our own music of course - the crowd can expect a lot of energy and feel-good moments. Bring it on!
