Exclusive Interview with Tenashar
Tenashar's Eurasian heritage is that of Spanish and Chinese. After spending most of her early modeling and DJing days in Europe (Spain, Ibiza, Italy), this FHM Cover girl is now based in Hong Kong and models and DJs internationally. She is considered the fastest rising female DJ and just recently landed on #87 of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll.
Siam2nite had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Tenashar, shortly before her performance at Nakarin Space on 12th September.
As a model you have done successful shoots with notable brand names such has Cosmopolitan, FHM, Asian Geographic and Fashion TV. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place and how did you get into DJing?
I used to be a drummer at the age of 6 in my own band. Living in Ibiza and playing with decks felt like a natural progression from drums.
Last year you made your entry into DJ Mag Top 100 DJs ranking, taking place #87. What does this ranking mean to you? What was your first reaction when you your rank was announced?
My initial reaction was tears. Tears of joy. It's just been a dream of mine to spread my passion for EDM.
How would you describe your music in just a few words and what tracks, remixes or mix sets would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
Banging. Big. Huge. I'd recommend my latest mashup C.U.B.A Warriors.
What are you currently working and focusing on? What’s on your agenda for the near future?
I'm currently working on new mashups and focusing mainly on the finishing touches to my new original track, Traffic. I aspire to push Asia to the top of the charts.
What was the best and the worst gig you ever played and what was the funniest thing ever occurred during any of your performances?
I enjoy each and every single one of my gigs! I guess the funniest thing that has happened to me was having my fans jump so hard they almost knocked the entire console over, it was a crazy fun party.
After spending most of your early modeling and DJing days in Europe, you are now based in Hong Kong. What made you decide to move there and what can you tell us about Hong Kong’s nightlife?
I'm now based between Hong Kong and Singapore, it doesn't matter where i'm based as long as i have my laptop and can make music. The nightlife in both Hong Kong and Singapore is really vibrant.
Your latest performance here in Bangkok was in May 2013 at Muse Thonglor and you were shooting here in Bangkok at The Eugenia Hotel for Playboy Thailand’s October 2013 issue. Now you are about to return to Bangkok for an exclusive performance at the newly opened Nakarin Space. What can Bangkok expect from your upcoming performance?
Thailand is going to expect an extremely crazy party, watch out Bangkok!!
