In these unprecedented and trying times from the COVID-19 pandemic, going out to parties on Friday nights or music festivals is out of the question. But it’s times like this where we see the best collaborations taking place, and this is why music lovers from around the world including artists, musicians, DJs, promoters, industry leaders, and fans of the music industry are coming together to develop creative solutions to help us through this global crisis.
Beatport, a digital music retail giant from the United States, are also doing their part to help ease the souls of music lovers who are riding out the quarantine period in their living room and support artists who would like to promote their new music through a streaming event called ReConnect. All the donations collected during the live stream were given directly to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a WHO-led effort to respond to the pandemic and help send essential supplies and personal protective equipment to frontline health workers.
ReConnect is a 24-hour electronic music live stream that featured DJ sets from 24 international artists performing live from their studios or living rooms. The list includes Anna, Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz, Duke Dumont, Astia, Rüfüs Du Sol, Nora En Pure, Gorgon City, Griz, and La Fleur. There were special sets from the likes of Pete Tong, Junior Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold and many more who added another extra 9 hours to this music marathon!
The ReConnect event was hosted on Twitch and broadcasted live on Facebook, YouTube, and Periscope. Although the event date has passed on Saturday, March 28, 2020 (United States time), Beatport has decided to post those sets on YouTube for us to enjoy for free!
