HEAVY Organizer is sparking joy in the hearts of Thai music lovers by bringing back “Serng 3: Thai Dance Music Festival 2019”. The upcoming event celebrates the third anniversary of the Serng series, which showcases the best of modern and traditional Isan music.
The 2019 installment features seven outstanding acts who’ll bring a blithesome blast for the revelers to dance ‘til they drop. Enjoy the festival in Bangkok’s brief cool breeze at Fortune Sky Arena, Fortune Town, Rama 9, this December 21 (Sat).
First on the list is T-Bone, a pioneer in the Thai reggae/ska scene. The band is best known for classics like “Ther Hen Thong Far Nan Mai”, “Toh Long Tong”, “Kord”, and “Klin”. They’re also famous for their energetic festival performances, which are guaranteed to be a real crowd-pleaser.
Srirajah Rockers, one of the current best reggae acts, had been on Serng’s lineup since the very first iteration. The band is known for hits like “Term”, “Phan Lam Phang”, “Yaa Hai Dae”, “Destroy Babylon”, and “Karma Sound System”.
In this much-anticipated return, Srirajah Rockers promises to bring to the stage a performance to remember.
The third act on the roster is Taotosmith, an up-and-coming indie Thai folk band praised for its social commentary through poignant lyrics and music. Some of their top hits include “Pen Ta Li Tone”, “Daeng Kab Khiew”, “Amazing Thailand”, “Pattaya Lover”, and “Khang Khok”.
Next is the Isan-born Junlaholaan Band, an alternative group best known for indie tracks like “Wong Khojorn”, “Der Ai Der”, “Time”, and “Din”, with millions of views on YouTube. The candid and touching lyrics, combined with the heavy accent of the lead vocalist, Game Sujitra, make the band’s live show a unique and spellbinding act.
The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band promises not to keep fans waiting this year, as the world-class Mor Lam ensemble is bringing to the stage a sublime folk music experience.
Entirely instrumental, their sound has an unmistakable character thanks to the use of Phin and Khaen. On the international level, the band has performed at world-famous festivals such as Glastonbury, Sfinks, and Off Festival.
To wrap up this joyous festival, we’ve got Isan Music Legend, Dao Bandon, 72-year-old artist and music instructor. Expect to serng all night long to some of his classics such as “Khon Khee Lang Khwai” and “Noom Lam Nam Chee”.
Supporting these impressive acts is DJ Daokhanong Chaya Stargazer, who’ll make sure festival-goers are getting the best entertainment!
Finally, to add some vibrant colors to the mix, you’ll have ‘floral prints’ as the dress code. So be sure to put on your best floral shirts and let your style blossom.
