Panasonic Launches a Shoe Deodorizer That Will Freshen Your Kicks While You Sleep
Unpleasant shoe smell is such a common problem that people have came up with multiple different ways to combat the issue. These household remedies involve the use of tea bags, newspaper, baby powder, or baking soda. Some of us even go as far as stuffing their shoes in the freezer. While some of these methods actually work, it can have quite a negative impact on the aesthetics of your shoes. Now, there’s finally a gadget that will stop your shoes from stinking in the simplest way possible.
Japanese electronic giant Panasonic has introduced a shoe deodorizer under the model name MS-DS100. The machine comes equipped with the brand’s nanoe X air purification technology. It works by generating and emitting hydroxyl radicals from six outlets in the detachable caps to every corner of the shoes. This destroys the smell by breaking down Isovaleric acid formed in the sneaker due to foot bacteria and sweat.
There are two modes to the MS-DS100, “normal” and “long”. The former takes your shoes through a 5-hour long cleaning cycle while the latter involves much deeper 7-hour cycle made especially for the more stubborn odors. The device can be plugged into a power outlet or charged for mobile use in case no wall outlets are available where you keep your shoes.
The MS-DS100 will be officially unveiled on September 20, 2018, for an undisclosed retail price. Unfortunately for most of us the device will only be rolled out in Japan and will take quite an effort to grab hold of one if you live outside of the country, but it will be worth it when you wake up to a pair of fresh-smelling shoes every morning.
