5 Hilarious Stoner Movies to Celebrate 420 at Home
Whether you love to blaze it or not, we think you will enjoy these comedies on 4/20, the cannabis day.
Stoner or not, there’s a high chance you’ve seen the slang ‘420’ here and there on the media as they cover cannabis culture. The numbers refer to the act of gathering to smoke marijuana at 4:20 p.m.
The term was first coined by a group of high school students in California, USA, back in 1971. The five teenagers, calling themselves Waldos, gathered after school at 4:20 p.m. to drive around and find cannabis plants by following trails on a hand-drawn map.
Years later, 420 has become a slang among American teens that refers to smoking pot in general. (In Thailand, terms like “poon” or “neua” see more common usage.)
Nowadays, thousands of cannabis users, especially in Colorada and California where it’s legal, gather on April 20 every year. They’d celebrate and advocate the legalization of this illicit plant.
Although it started out as a sub-culture, marijuana use has entered the mainstream culture. The issue has been seeing more and more acceptance worldwide.
So in the spirit of the upcoming Cannabis Day, we’ve picked out five hilarious movies about marijuana. Whether you like to toke the weed yourself or not, we think everyone can appreciate a good, lighthearted comedy.
