Funko Drops Firefighters Pop! Figures to Aid Bushfire Relief
Proceeds will be donated to those who help wild animals in the wake of the Australian bushfire crisis.
Since the end of 2019, the Australian bushfires ravaging the country have consumed over 11 million hectares of forests and killed over 1 billion wild animals (as reported by BBC on February 12).
Still, things are slowly improving thanks to heavy rainfalls from Cyclone Uesi putting out fires in several areas. This bit of good news is just what the world needs to hear after keeping a close eye on the situation for months.
The fires serve as a grim reminder for humanity of how devastating natural disasters can be. At the same time, it’s a chance for us to see everyday heroes at work, especially the firefighters who bravely wade into bushfires to save wild animals.
As a recognition and appreciation of the firefighters’ efforts in this crisis, globally leading toy brand, Funko, joins with Popcultcha on the exclusive “Bushfire Heroes” collection. The Funko figurine features a firefighter carrying a tiny koala bear.
All proceeds will be donated to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) – one of the core organizations taking care of animals affected by the bushfire crisis.
The Bushfire Heroes collectible is a joint effort of Funko and PopCultcha, Australia’s largest online store for all things figures. One of these figures will set you back 19.99 AUD; they’re available on the PopCultcha website.
The store ships worldwide, and will start shipping out this limited edition in June.
We understand that these items, although super adorable, can remind some of the tragedies that took place during the crisis. If that’s the case for you, skip right to the donation and send your support to RSPCA directly on their website.
