Matcha Craze: 8 Matcha-licious Menus From 8 Creative Dessert Cafés All Around Bangkok
What is Matcha? It’s basically a type of green tea but just processed differently. Other than the rich tea flavor, consumers will also get 100% of all the vitamins, fibers, and antioxidants as well. The benefits are endless; some say it helps with your metabolism, while others might connect them to assisting with weight loss. It’s no wonder why Matcha had become so popular over the past few years. You can even replace coffee with it, due to the extraordinarily high caffeine levels.
But just drinking Matcha is becoming a bit too basic. While many cafés work on different drinks with different Matcha, others just go a whole different path and come up with some of the most creative food items we’d ever seen. After all, if Matcha is already good on its own, if it can be paired with something good, the result would just be awesome right? Let’s go check out these 8 Matcha Menus from 8 popular dessert cafés from all around Bangkok (in no particular order).
Matcha Brownie - Tealily
This tightly packed brownie is just superbly rich with Matcha flavor. It is dressed with chocolate chips and Matcha drizzle and served with a side of whipped cream. In every bite, you can feel the aroma and power of the Matcha that isn’t bitter in any way. Have it with a cup of coffee or tea, and you’re all good.
Matcha Choux Cream - TSUJIRI
The outer layer of this choux cream is just so crispy you’d think you were having a cookie if you closed your eyes. As you slowly bite into it, the matcha custard cream made from a special recipe will start oozing out endlessly. The cream is perfectly balanced between richness, sweetness, and texture, while the outer layer just compliments the flavor of the cream. Have it with a cup of piping hot O-MATCHA from the same café, and you have yourself a perfect snack break.

The “Matcha Extremist” is pure Matcha ice cream covered all over with a layer of crispy charcoal skin. There’s the fresh cream, crispy cookie crumble, rich Matcha mousse, and lastly a bottom layer of soft cheesecake. Honey Comb Matcha Pudding Crepe - Olino Crepe & Tea
Another creative creation in the realms of Matcha. The crepe itself and made from a Matcha batter, giving it a rich green color. After being doused with honey, filled with red bean paste, and slathered in Matcha ice cream, the crepe is then rolled up, but it’s not done. The opening of the cone is filled with Matcha pudding, and a generous amount of whipped cream, and finished off with more honey, Matcha powder, and a comb of honey. Talk about a monster menu.
