Brain Dead and Converse Drop a Multi-Pattern Madness Collection, with Zebra Stripes, Polka Dots, and More
Brain Dead is a Los Angeles-based creative collective of artists and designers, as well as a streetwear brand founded by designers Kyle Ng and Ed Davis. Brought together by a shared passion for offbeat underground subculture and drawing inspiration from post-punk music, skateboarding, and underground comics, Brain Dead had become known for its disruptive, graphics-led approach and erratic, internet-based designs. Following the past successes with top fashion brands like Suicoke, Vans, Nike, Beams, and Carhartt WIP, the team is back for an all-new collaboration with Converse.
The Brain Dead x Converse collection reimagines the classic Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 silhouette with a mixture of prints, punchy graphics, and wild colors. The left shoe features a black-white zebra pattern on the lateral side, classic duck camo on the medial side, polka dots on the tongue, and a red-white band going down the heel. The right shoe presents a totally different cheetah pattern on the lateral side, white stars on a blue canvas (referencing the American flag) on the medial side, inverse black-white polka dots on the tongue, and a giraffe patterned band going down the heel.
Both shoes come with a Brain Dead patch on the lateral collar. Converse’s iconic star logo on the medial collar, and printed text on the white midsole. The pair retails for $110 or about 3,625 THB.
There are quite a few apparels in the collection including a black hooded bomber jacket featuring the word “Brain Dead” in bold yellow color on the bottom ($200 or about 6,592 THB), a gray graphic t-shirt ($40 or about 1,318 THB), a purple long-sleeve graphic t-shirt ($50 or about 1,648 THB), and a green turtleneck sweater with graphics on the back ($100 or about 3,296 THB). You can also find a tiny shoulder bag ($50 or about 1,648 THB) and a tote bag ($120 or about 3,955 THB) in the collection, both bearing the same mashup materials from the footwear.
The Brain Dead x Converse collection had officially been launched on October 26, 2018, and are now available on the online stores of both brands and the Converse store in Siam Discovery for those of you in Thailand. This super eclectic and creative collab is definitely the one to have!
