Sabyasachi x H&M Collection Brings Wanderlust to Wardrobes
East meets west with this global collaboration between high street style giant H&M and India’s biggest name in fashion Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Since 2004, Swedish fast-fashion major H&M has had quite a several notable collaborations with legendary fashion designers, first of which is with Karl Lagerfeld. The result was a capsule range of womenswear and menswear that sold out within minutes as soon as the shops opened. This set a precedent for future collaborations, namely with Stella McCartney (2005), Roberto Cavalli (2007), Comme des Garcons (2008), Jimmy Choo (2009), Lanvin (2010), Versace (2011), Alexander Wang (2014), Balmain (2015), and Moschino (2018). Now, in 2020, H&M just dropped another bomb by announcing its first global collaboration with celebrated Indian couture and jewelry designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
For over two decades, “Sabyasachi” has been a household name in the realms of high fashion with his signature extravagant Indian bridal wear that have been worn by the riches of India's high society to Bollywood superstars such as Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, and Anushka Sharma.
The latest Sabyasachi x H&M collection that is set to be released on April 16th takes on the “Wanderlust” theme influenced by the Sabyasachi’s travel and cultural experiences to places like Marrakech, Florence, and Rajasthan.
The collection will feature womenswear, menswear, jewelry, scarfs, sunglasses, visor caps, boho bags, belts, and many more exciting accessories as well as the Sabyasachi’s signature saree, the first instance of any ethnic product being launched by H&M. Furthermore, another key highlight of this collection will be Indian textile and print traditions brought to life by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, meticulously crafted embroidery and multicultural silhouettes.
The Sabyasachi x H&M collection will be available at Myntra.com and in all Indian H&M stores, as well as globally in selected stores and online at HM.com starting 16 April 2020.
